Lists are us! City rates high again, an article from The Gazette, reports that Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine's June issue judged Colorado Springs as one of the 10 best places to live, work and play.  According to Dave White, executive vice president for marketing with the Colorado Springs Economic Development Corp., aside from generating community pride, making these lists can make a small but real difference in selling the region and attracting visitors and new business.  When making the rankings, Kiplinger's looked at population growth, income growth, job growth, job quality and the existence of a "creative class."

The ‘Keys’ to Stability in Today’s Market, an article from RISMedia.com, reports that as a part of the organization’s efforts to prevent foreclosures, support counseling efforts, and provide market stability in the wake of the housing and mortgage market downturn, Fannie Mae announced its Keys to Recovery initiatives.  These initiatives are geared toward helping struggling borrowers stay in their homes, assisting prospective home buyers with home purchases, and stabilizing impacted communities.  One initiative is a new refinancing option for Fannie Mae “underwater” borrowers that will allow for refinancing up to 120% of a property’s current value.  Another is a renewal and expansion of Fannie Mae’s partnership with State Housing Finance Agencies (HFAs) to provide $10 billion in financing for qualified, first-time home buyers.  Finally, in partnership with Self-Help, a new initiative that allows families in hard-hit communities to reside in foreclosed properties on a rent-to-own basis.
