Powers Office Park on track, an article from the Colorado Springs Business Journal, reports the official word is that the $40 million, 300,000-square-foot Powers Office Park development is moving forward.  The first 30,000-square-foot office buildings will be completed by August, and retail announcements are expected this spring.  Harvey Salkow, the original developer, said that market conditions made it difficult to complete the project on his own.  So, he has joined forces with Paragon Properties Co.’s President Doug Dragoo and Executive Vice President Ryan Eller, who will take the lead on the development.  Salkow said, “Within 60 days or so, we hope to make a couple of announcements.  Drawing off the SuperTarget, Lowe’s, the two hospitals and population centers, our site would be great location for a hotel and probably a bank.”

Realty Viewpoint: Press Begins To Suggest It's Time To Buy A Home, an article from RealtyTimes.com, reports that builders are tired of being hammered by the press, but slowly, some writers are beginning to build a case for buying a home.  The Commerce Department says new home sales in January fell to the slowest pace since February 1995, and that prices have returned to September 2004 levels, or $216,000 for a median-priced new home.  A few members of the financial press are beginning to suggest that a bottom is near, and that buyers should get out and start looking for bargains in homes.  In an article from Time Magazine titled "Ignore the Headlines!" by Dan Kadlec, he makes the case that buying a home today will beat waiting another year even if home prices drop an additional 10%.
