USOC says what it needs to stay, an article from The Gazette, reports that if the U.S. Olympic Committee is going to remain in Colorado Springs it wants 90,000 square feet of prime downtown office space and 200 new residences for athletes.  In an effort to try to dissuade the USOC from moving its administrative offices and Olympic Training Center out of the city, Colorado Springs officials invited four real estate companies to submit proposals on providing such facilities.  The city has told developers the USOC needs a mix of dormitory-style rooms, apartments and townhomes for single and married athletes.  USOC also needs parking for 240 employees and would like retail space as part of any project.  Darryl Seibel, USOC spokesman, said that decisions on the USOCs future will be based on a need to evaluate its facilities and not with dissatisfaction over the Springs as a home.  Mayor Lionel Rivera said, "We're going to meet their needs, and we have the resources to do that."

Financiers estimate housing will recover in ’10, an article from MSNBC.com, reports that mortgage executives predict continued fall and flattening in 2009.  At the Mortgage Bankers Association's annual convention, officials with the government-sponsored mortgage companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and CEOs from two major mortgage banks said that the continuing spike in foreclosures and high number of unsold homes will prevent any quick price rebound.  Patricia Cook, chief business officer of Freddie Mac, said, "We're probably in for a reasonable period of time that we'll see continued slowing" in the housing investment market.  Cook and Thomas Lund, an executive vice president at Fannie Mae, both have expressed support for legislation that aims to infuse more cash into the market and give lenders more leeway to help at-risk homeowners refinance.
