in 9 jobs tied to real
estate,
an article from the
Rocky Mountain News,
reports that according to a
report prepared for the
Colorado Association of
Realtors, one out of every
nine jobs in Colorado is
tied to the
multibillion-dollar
residential and commercial
real estate industry. The
University of Colorado at
Colorado Springs and the
Colorado Policy Studies
group are responsible for
the report that tracked the
economic impact of the real
estate industry from Grand
Junction to Pueblo. Kit
Cowperthwaite, the 2007
president of the Realtor
group, said the report is
based on 2005 date, which is
the most current information
available. "Real estate is
a driving force in our
economy. I think it may
surprise people that so many
industries are related to
real estate", said
Cowperthwaite.

Foreclosure rate dips but
expected to stay high,
an article from
MSNBC.com,
reports that it appears
unlikely that the number of
foreclosures will peak any
time soon, despite a dip in
foreclosures last month.
RealtyTrac, which publishes
a database that tracks
foreclosures, released data
on Thursday that shows
223,538 foreclosures and
related filings reported in
September. That number
represents about one in
every 557 households. Rick
Sharga, vice president of
marketing for RealtyTrac
said, "I wouldn't bet the
farm on this being the
peak." Another wave of
"resets" is expected to hit
over the next year, which
will put those borrowers at
risk of losing their homes.
